STANDPUNKT.e - welcome to my world

> schwere reiter

"When I first heard his compositions I had an immediate response. The effect is implied rather than stated. It is the sound of a human body in delicate collision with metal strings, wood and ivory. " (Linehan über Skelton)

"There is seductiveness in Linehan's confident choreographic voice that satisfies the rational senses and beguiles the irrational." The Irish Times

"one of our classiest choreographers" The Guardian

Tanz: Rachel Lopez, Robert Clark, Greig Cooke

  Linehan's statement on Skelton:
"When I first heard his compositions I had an immediate response. I identified with the way his music resonated with drama, but wasn't dependent on any particular reading or metaphorical conclusion for its strength. The effect is implied rather than stated. It is the sound of a human body in delicate collision with metal strings, wood and ivory. Richard and I have already collaborated successfully with a live performance at Finsbury Town Hall in a festival celebrating The Wire's 25th Anniversary, which involved four dancers and five musicians. We want to develop our working relationship in more depth and range, to build on that first structurally improvised experience."

Richard Skelton is a UK artist and composer who records variously as A Broken Consort, Carousell and Clouwbeck, amongst others. He is an established figure on the international experimental music scene, with a slew of albums on his own, highly respected, Sustain-Release Private Press, as well as on other labels, including Preservation, Type and Tompkins Square. His recordings are characterised by their sensitivity and honesty. They revel in physicality, celebrate the tactile act of play with all its grace and awkwardness and embrace everything that is unique and unrepeatable in each performance. His music is a complex weave of interlocking melodies, off-rhythms and beautiful sonorities and the perfect complement to Linehan's choreography.
