Alma Söderberg listens to sounds to synthesize them with each other, forms words through gestures, creates thoughts that evolve into sounds, into music, into dance which in turn bring forth new thoughts. “New Old” is personal, private in fact. In it, The Swedish perfromer and choreographer reflects on the ageing post-natal body, especially the pelvic floor, the fear of wetting one's pants, the mouth-like shape of the vulva and the question of how the word “pussy” sounds in different languages. This thinking moves in and out of internal and external spaces, shoots through the roof with vectors of high hissing sounds and lands in melodic phrases that float above the heads of the audience.
