play things by ear

Tanztendenz

"play things by ear" is the combination of dance and music in Instant Composition.
"play things by ear" is communication, is a conversation, deals with the moment.
"play things by ear" invites you to watch and listen.

The project aims to create an improvisational space for action in which dance and music, or dancers and musicians, meet as equal partners. Music often serves as a template for a dance choreography - or, conversely, musicians are brought in to compose the sound for the resulting dance material. We combine dance and music in this way almost as a matter of course.

But what if, in the live situation on stage, the people and artists appear as personalities who create a narrative or an experiment together with their associations? Can the tradition of “music accompanying dance” be dissolved to some extent?
