Die fünf Choreograf*innen, welche im Juni und Juli ihre Performances auf die Bühne des schwere reiter bringen werden, haben uns im Vorfeld einen blitzlichtartigen Einblick in ihr derzeitiges künstlerisches Universum gegeben: Es geht um Inspiration, Dringlichkeit und Utopien. Durch ihre Antworten zechnet sich die künstlerische Vielfalt ab, die uns in den nächsten zwei Monaten auf der Bühne des schwere reiter erwarten wird.
Was inspiriert dich gerade?
Erica D´Amico: Right now I’m inspired by the idea of perception beyond vision; through sound, intimacy, memory, and the body.
Fabian Riess: Der Frühling! Nichts ist vergleichbar mit der Euphorie, wenn rundherum alle Menschen, Tiere und Pflanzen wieder aus ihren Schlupflöchern kommen.
Tasha Hess-Neustadt: At the moment I am very inspired by music, and gathering to listen to, experience, and dance to music together. It feels essential!
Moritz Ostruschnjak: Die Menschen, mit denen ich gerade arbeite.
Hannah Schillinger: Queer history and how artistic and political movements build upon and respond to each other.
Was an deinem Stück oder Thema fühlt sich dringlich für dich an, warum wolltest du dich gerade jetzt damit beschäftigen?
EA: In an overstimulated and highly visual world, I feel the need to create spaces for listening, slowness, and alternative ways of perceiving and relating.
FR: Zukunftsangst beansprucht immer mehr Raum im Leben vieler Menschen und ich sehe es als dringliche Aufgabe der Kunst, diese gesellschaftlichen Ängste zu adressieren. 'This Tomorrow' ist ein Versuch, die Kunst als Spiegel der Gesellschaft zu tragen und lädt das Publikum dazu ein, mit diesen Emotionen und Ängsten in einen authentischen Austausch zu treten.
TN: With This Tomorrow, we want to create a space to artistically be with emotions and perceptions of this moment in time in the world. We want to invite our collective imaginations to travel beyond the conceptions of our reality or notions of our futures that we currently envisage. In relation to the political moment, we want to insist on dancing with joy, with all its complexity.
HS: I am curious about how cultural memories and stories shaped by the white patriarchal gaze can be opened up through queer perspectives.
MO: Stücke zu machen ist für mich immer dringlich. Warum mich ein bestimmtes Thema gerade jetzt interessiert, verstehe ich oft erst rückblickend. Im aktuellen Stück reizt mich das Wortspiel im Titel, das Begriffe wie Entfremdung, Alien und Nation miteinander verbindet. Mich beschäftigt die Frage, wie gesellschaftliche Entfremdung entsteht – auch im Zusammenhang mit sozialen Medien – und wie sich das auf Zugehörigkeit und politische Repräsentation auswirkt.
Was ist deine Utopie für die Münchner Tanzszene? Was brauchen wir, wovon brauchen wir mehr?
EA: I wish for a more open and supportive dance scene with more space for risk-taking, inclusion, exchange, and long-term support for emerging artists.
FR: Ich denke wir brauchen vor allem Mut und Strukturen, die unsere einzelnen 'Bubbles' aktiv in Verbindung bringen. In meiner Utopie stürmen wir alle das Münchner Rathaus, wenn Kulturkürzungen und Antikulturpolitik weiter voranschreiten.
TN: Having started my dance life in places like NYC and London, the Munich scene is special because there is a real openness - we should protect and foster that. I think we need sustainable structures to connect us across all positions in the professional scene, to share resources and exchange. I would love to see more presentation platforms and alliances to other places, so that our works can have a longer lifespan and meet wider audience. And as Fabian said, to organize politically.
MO: Ein Tanzhaus – beziehungsweise ein echtes Produktionshaus für die freie Szene. Einen Ort mit Kontinuität, Probenräumen, Ressourcen und Sichtbarkeit, an dem langfristige künstlerische Arbeit möglich ist.
HS: I love the community spirit in the dance scene right now and hope we can continue to strengthen and broaden that sense of solidarity across styles, disciplines and spaces.
