The 11th edition of the contemporary dance platform “HIER=JETZT” (10–12 April 2026 at schwere reiter) came to a close on Sunday with three sold-out performances. Following the unexpected death of Birgitta Trommler, this year’s edition was dedicated to her. Her commitment to supporting emerging talent in Munich’s independent dance scene remains a central feature of the platform.

Artistic Director Johanna Richter emphasised that Trommler’s spirit lives on: giving young artists a platform, supporting them and not giving up in the face of adversity.

The festival opened with the world premiere of “narrative of an echo” by Alonso Núñes Quirós and Dalila di Gennaro, made possible by the Munich Migration Advisory Board. This was followed by two sold-out “Open Space” performances featuring eight choreographers, whose works were judged by the audience.

The 2026 prizes went to:
1st Prize: Ria Girard and Terra Kell WE DO NOTHING AND YOU WATCH
(Audience Award, accompanied by a three-month grant from the Norbert Janssen Foundation and a two-week residency at Tanztendenz)

2nd Prize: Giorgio Lombardo and Alba Fracchia YOU WANT ME TO BE: THE PRODUCT
(Audience Award)

3rd Prize: Jennie Boultbee THE PLACE FROM WHICH
(Residency at Tanzprojekt München, awarded by Michaela Weinhauser)
