MOVE TOWARDS

MOVE TOWARDS

Be playful outside - Complete your butterfly - Make a fire

In 2025, Judith Hummel and Markéta Stránská met at residencies in Munich, Hebden Bridge/Wainsgate (UK) and Hradec Králové/Babí (Czech Republic) to explore physical activities, exchange practices and reflect on inclusive forms of collaboration. The idea for the cards emerged during the final phase of the research. They offer both practical movement tasks and relaxing exercises that take into account the importance of group dynamics and individual needs in inclusive environments. It is an open format to which new cards can be added, designed to inspire others in their own research and to support accessible, somatic exploration.

Funded by a working grant from the Department of Culture of the City of Munich.

Markéta Stránská is a choreographer, performer and physiotherapist based in the Czech republic. Since 2012, she´s been an active member of the Czech contemporary dance scene and recently part of the Candoco Dance Company. As a choreographer, she likes to observe and get inspired by day-to-day activities, movements and routines. She simply refuses to take our stereotypes for granted, but, quite to the contrary, she seeks to find the significance and richness of their very essence.

Judith Hummel is a performance artist, dancer, dance educator, ContactJam founder and teacher at a special needs school (ICP Foundation, Munich). She is currently continuing to work with Susanne Schneider on the ‘Moving Anatomy’ programme for primary school classes – a format that has already been trialled across three modules – and, together with Schneider and Laura Saumweber, is in the experimental and research phase for a dance piece for very young children (trailer available at judith-hummel.de).
