As part of TANZWERKSTATT EUROPA

In the choreographic laboratory – a space for creative exploration – ‘Dance for People’, choreographer Ceren Oran explores and reveals the various phases of creative processes. With infectious passion and deep expertise, she shares valuable tools and personal experiences that guide participants step by step on their creative journey – from the initial spark of inspiration to the magical moment of the premiere.

Together, workshop participants delve deep into the world of dance production, question established procedures and discover new perspectives: What is the significance of targeted rehearsal preparation? How important is casting for the creative process? How can emotions and ideas be transformed into expressive choreographic images through improvisation and creative exercises? Even the famous principle of ‘kill your darlings’ becomes a transformative artistic strategy.

Ceren Oran – dancer, choreographer and artistic director of the Munich-based company Ceren Oran & Moving Borders – embodies a clear vision: contemporary dance, both as an art form and as a practice, belongs to everyone and should be accessible to all! Through innovative performances in public spaces, projects for young audiences and a variety of formats, she creates experiences that move and connect people. Her aim: to make art accessible, break down barriers and reach an audience as diverse as dance itself. In 2025, Ceren Oran was honoured with the prestigious German Theatre Prize DER FAUST in the category of Direction of Children’s and Youth Theatre for her dance piece ‘Gute Wut’. She also received the City of Munich’s Dance Promotion Prize in 2022.
