ChoreoLab TanzSüd 2026 / Matteo Carvone: What Moves Us?
ChoreoLab TanzSüd will hold its eighth edition in 2026, bringing together four choreographers and four dancers for an intensive five-week creative process, culminating in a dance evening featuring four new contemporary choreographies.
concept
At the heart of ChoreoLab lies a simple challenge: each choreographer is given the same dancers, the same resources and just six days of rehearsals to develop a new piece based on a shared theme. The process requires courage, trust, quick decision-making and a willingness to embrace the unknown.
topic
This year’s theme, ‘What Moves Us?’, invites artists and audiences alike to reflect on the forces that drive us. Is it emotions, curiosity, love, ambition, fear, memories, a sense of community – or something else entirely?
Every choreographer is invited to interpret this question from their own artistic perspective and to develop an individual choreographic response that reflects their personal style and approach.
The result is an evening featuring four distinct choreographic voices – bold, surprising and full of contrasts. Each work offers a different answer to the same question and opens up new perspectives on the diversity and possibilities of contemporary dance.
The programme comprises four 15-minute pieces by four choreographers, presented in two parts: 30 minutes, a 15-minute interval, and a further 30 minutes.
The evening is an original programme conceived and produced by ROXY Ulm under the artistic direction of Pablo Sansalvador.
Choreographers: Matteo Carvone, Simone Elliott, Pablo Sansalvador, Emi Miyoshi | dancers: Hiraku Osakabe, Marta Jaén García, Daniel Contant, Caterina Moreno
