Cia Converge+ / Idio Chichava: VAGABUNDUS
AS PART OF THE TANZWERKSTATT EUROPA
“I believe that dance can heal our world. Through it, we learn to truly feel, hear and see” – Idio Chichava
Migration is as old as humanity itself, yet it is still too often reduced to statistics, crises, or border debates. In VAGABUNDUS, Mozambican choreographer Idio Chichava explores migration through the body as a vessel of memory, identity, and collective energy. Blending continuous dance, live singing, and ritual-inspired movement, 13 performers create a powerful reflection on migration, belonging, and the search for connection.
Inspired by Makonde dance traditions, the performance transforms individual journeys into a shared, pulsating stage experience. Idio Chichava, founder of Converge+ Dance Company and co-recipient of the 2024 SEDA – European Dance Award, creates works that unite choreography, music, and community to foster dialogue and human connection.
