Dhélé Agbetou: Hip – House – Funk: Urban Styles
As part of TANZWERKSTATT EUROPA
In this workshop, dancers of all levels can immerse themselves in the world of urban dance. The programme covers Popping and Locking – the styles of the 1970s – House Dance from the 1980s, Old School Hip Hop from the 1990s, and today’s modern New Style Hip Hop. The course covers technique, basic steps and choreography, and equips participants to freestyle.
Under the guidance of Dhélé Agbetou, participants can improve their ability to learn moves, improvise, understand their bodies and express themselves through dance in their own unique way. The course is suitable for anyone who enjoys moving, wants to discover their artistic abilities and would like to meet other enthusiastic dancers.
Dhélé is equally at home in both urban and contemporary dance. He has won numerous hip-hop battles in Germany, France, Israel, South Africa and Japan, and tours internationally as a dancer. For over 10 years, he has been committed to introducing children and young people to hip-hop culture through dance. Among other things, he founded the Urban Stylez festival in Bielefeld in 2017, which has since expanded to an international scale. He was awarded the Bielefeld Culture Prize in 2021 for his initiative. Dhélé is the youngest board member of the umbrella organisation Tanz Deutschland, where he is committed to developing sustainable structures within urban dance.
