DOK.fest München: MOVEMENT UNBOUND
‘What is dance? What is aesthetics? What is perfection? What is beauty?’ In the 1990s, Gerda König came into contact with the mixed-ability movement, in which dancers with and without disabilities explored new forms of dance. Fascinated by this, she took on the role of artistic director of the newly founded DIN A 13 tanzcompany in Cologne. For over 30 years, the company has been creating national and international productions that challenge conventional viewing habits and aesthetic categories. They reveal a beauty that can only emerge when bodies with and without limitations move together. The story of a unique ensemble that continues to this day to reinvent contemporary dance in a political and provocative way is told through outstanding material.
