DOK.fest München: MOVEMENT UNBOUND
As professional dancers, Jay and Vol’demar know how to express themselves when words reach their limits. In Kiev’s underground clubs, the queer couple find a space and companions who, through movement, bring to life everything that is forbidden elsewhere. Between rehearsals and bomb alerts, they carve out freedoms with their performance collective and fight for the right to exist. Intimate and expressive, the film explores queer rights, war trauma and how to cope with it – on stage, in clubs, and in so-called everyday life. Julian Lautenbacher has been following the dancers since 2022 and has created a sensitive film that maintains a special closeness to its protagonists and offers an immersive sound experience.
