Isabella Oberländer: of roaring and dripping (side.kicks)
How can dance’s capacity for action be expanded in light of the growing complexities of the 21st century—for example, with regard to ecology, equality, and global interconnectedness?
This is a question that Isabella Oberländer continually explores in her own artistic practice. Oberländer is particularly interested in hydrofeminism—that is, the connection between humans and other living beings through water. It flows through bodies, living beings, and materials, connecting them.
Throughout this water cycle, we absorb or leave behind traces that are often invisible to us—for example, when we take a sip of water. How can we create a queer feminist source? What might it look like?
As artists, how can we extend invitations, create spaces, and establish structures that foster solidarity and critical thinking—both with our collaborators and with the audience?

Local & International: Four Productions & A Dance Symposium
The Tanztendenz format side.kicks presents four choreographies at schwere reiter that explore hybrid, dissolving, and shifting images of the body. In these four highly diverse works by Alexandra Rauh + Stephanie Felber, Quindell Orton, Isabella Oberländer and Colette Sadler, the boundaries between human and non-human bodies blur. Human & animal, human & plant, human & machine, and human & digitality are the focus of these works. In conjunction with the four performances, the dance symposium “Animals, Animalities, and Non-Human Actors in Contemporary Dance” will take place as part of side.kicks+ 2026, a collaboration between Access to Dance and Tanztendenz München e.V.
