Matteo Carvone: ICARUS
ICARUS is a choreographic solo about ascent, hubris and fall. Drawing on the myth of Icarus, Matteo Carvone explores the human urge to cross boundaries – blinded by the desire to fly ever closer to the sun. The body enters a state of constant tension: it stretches, oscillates, risks plummeting.
But who will dance when we have died out? What will remain of our dances?
Between archaic power and radical fragility, a flight emerges that is both liberation and threat – a final dance in the awareness of one’s own mortality.
